Carlos Ponce, Ph.D.

Carlos Ponce is the Senior Fellow & Director of Latin American Programs at the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation. Previously, he was the director for Latin American programs at Freedom House. He earned his Doctorate in Law and Policy from Northeastern University, as well as a master’s degree in Environmental Law from Vermont Law School, a Master of Arts in Urban and Environmental Policy and Planning from Tufts University, and a J.D. from Andres Bello Catholic University. Dr. Ponce is currently a member of the Steering Committee of the World Movement for Democracy, the ISC of the Community of Democracy, and the General Coordinator of the Latin American and Caribbean Network for Democracy. His career has been dedicated to the strengthening of civil society, developing mechanism to protect human rights leaders, and strengthening democracies throughout Latin America.
